My name is Danny Roberson. I enjoyed reading comic strips at a young age. My favorite was, and to this day, Calvin and Hobbs. I enjoyed the art style of Bill Watterson, just as much as I enjoyed the dialog of the comic. One of my first experiences as an artist was when I had eight years. I submitted a drawing for my dad’s work calendar contest. After a couple of months, my dad brought home a calendar, and as I was looking through, I saw my drawing for the month of July.
It was here that I realized that I loved, and wanted to be an artist.
I believe that being an artist is something that one can do if they have the passion, patience and put forth the effort to do. I went on to study through practical experience, learning through trial and error and self-learning studying the works of Glenn Vilppu, Chris Legaspi, Steve Huston, and Alphonso Dunn.
I work primarily in ball point pen, pencil, charcoal, pastel, colored pencil, gauche, and digital painting.
My art reflects the beauty, happiness, and togetherness in the representation of black families, and black life in art.
