Born in Pittsburgh, PA, LaShawn moved to the Tampa Bay Area in 2015 where she was inspired to embark on a hobby second to shopping. LaShawn set up a sewing station in her laundry room and would stay up until the wee hours of the night absorbing what she could from the numerous sewing videos available on YouTube.
Within three months, LaShawn was excited to attend her first sewing conference in Los Angeles, CA. It was here at the 3-day conference she met other sewing enthusiasts of all skill levels, participated in lectures and in-person classes from advanced instructors, and was amazed at the fabulous quality fabrics from vendors all over the globe.
Returning from the conference with even greater inspiration, LaShawn got busy expanding from her laundry room beginnings by converting a spare room to what is now her working studio complete with all the latest machinery and gadgets a sewist can aspire to have.
As a self-taught sewist, LaShawn has a deep passion for sewing/fiber art. She enjoys collaborating with other fiber artists and taking her work to the next level.
When not in her studio creating, she enjoys traveling, boating, and life in Florida with her wonderful husband Doug, and their dog Maya. Her grown children, Michael and Shayla are the loves of her life and she enjoys their visits, family vacations, and watching them grow into the beautiful young adults she nurtured.
